Wildlife Research Internship in Belize
Organization: Toucan Ridge Ecology and Education Society (T.R.E.E.S)
Location: 27.5 Hummingbird Hwy, Middlesex, Belize
Time Commitment: 35–40 hours/week | April 11 – December 31, 2025

T.R.E.E.S is offering a field-based internship opportunity for individuals with a background or strong interest in biology, environmental sciences, or conservation. Interns will gain practical research and field experience under the guidance of professional biologists, with opportunities to contribute to ongoing conservation and education efforts in Belize.

Interns will assist with wildlife research—primarily involving mud turtles, birds, bats, and herpetofauna—data entry, habitat and trail maintenance, agriculture, and educational outreach. Participants may also support specialized projects like radio-telemetry and bat monitoring (rabies vaccination required for certain activities).

Eligibility & Requirements:

Strong research and writing skills

Familiarity with scientific literature and identification techniques

Comfortable with nighttime fieldwork

Internships range from 2 to 6 weeks (4 weeks recommended). A fee of $289 USD/week covers lodging, meals (Mon–Fri), lab access, and on-site training. Discounts are available for Latin American and Caribbean citizens.
